Students completed their latest lab while viewing the night sky through the observatory's array of telescopes, including a new 20-inch truss tube Dobsonian, courtesy of Michael Sibbernsen, and the cutting-edge technology of the MARC Observatory.
In addition to the Northern Lights, they spotted Saturn, M13 (the Hercules Star Cluster), the Ring Nebula, the Dumbbell Nebula, The Andromeda Galaxy, and other objects.

Rich is an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, which is part of the College of Arts and Sciences.
