Homework for next class - The following charge distribution applies as a rough model of
the charge inside a light atomic nucleus, say a calcium nucleus
(Ca,atomic number 20).
A spherical charge distribution is given by
(a) Calculate the total charge inside the sphere of radius a.
(b) Find the electric field vectors outside the nucleus, say at a distance r = 2*a
(c)Compute the flux (surface) integral of the electric field over the sphere of radius 2*a.
(d)Compare your results from parts (a) and (c) with Gauss's Law. Is Gauss's Law verified?
