Human Vision and Optical Instruments

1)Use the InfoMall to conduct a little research to figure out (1) how a human
eye functions and (b) how a simple camera works.

Make a sketch of an eye and a camera. Label all of the essential optical parts.
Explain the function of each labeled part.

Compare the human eye to a camera. List the references you used.

2)What is the near point for human vision. Measure your own (with and
without eyeglasses or contact lenses if you wear them.)

3)Sherlock Holmes was noted for his use of a magnifying glass to examine a
crime location for clues. Explain how a magnifying glass works. Using your
near point value from (2), what magnification would you get from a
magnifying glass lens of focal length 8 cm? Show your calculations.
