The existence of this large electronic database made us want to try to teach a course
with no paper. The students buy the electronic database, all of the lesson
assignments are given to them electronically, all of the students work is submitted
back to us electronically. So we had to setup a classroom (Figure 22).

Here is what the paper-less classroom
looked like at the University of
Nebraska. It turns out it has Macintosh
Computers in it. The tables are arranged
in a kind of disarray. You can see me
there teaching. You notice I projected
something on the wall but only one of
the students is looking at it. The others
are watching their computer screens.

This classroom was
organized so that all the
students were networked
together (Figure 23). We
had eight computers so
we could do a class of 24
and they were networked
together as shown.
