My research uses freshwater fish

Education BS 1997, Biology - University of Nebraska-Omaha

What interested you in participating in Project Fulcrum? Project Fulcrum intrigued me on many levels. As a mother, a scientist, and an educator. I want to help children understand science and make it fun to ask critical questions about the natural world.
Research Interests My research uses freshwater fish to ask biogeographic questions. For example, why is this species here and not there? Howlong ago did these species diverge? And, what is the relationship of all these species across a continent?
What do you hope to get out of working with PF this year? This year I hope to build relationships with LPS teachers so that we may learn from each other. I hope to learn from the children how to become a better teacher. Finally, I hope to add a new perspective to Project Fulcrum so that it will continually enrich scientific education.
What hobbies and other interests do you have? I have 3 children who constantly amaze me. I love to watch them mature and help them to see the world. I also enjoy photography, getting immersed in a great book, experiencing great food and culture through travel, and playing music.
