Our research concentrates on structural, electronic and magnetic properties of self-assembled nanostructures. We apply local and integral methods for magnetic and electronic characterization. Our main tool at UNL is an Omicron low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope, which is currently being installed. Magnetic measurements will be done at synchrotron facilities, once or twice per year. The work includes the improvement of fabrication strategies to get better control over the self-assembly. In addition, we continuously expend considerable effort developing and improving experimental equipment.

I am inviting graduate students who are excited about experimental work in scanning probe microscopy and nanomagnetism to contact me for further details.
